OUR TAKE:
Well, this certainly had some appeal! What I enjoyed was the variety of stories offered. But, were they really terrifying and were they real? From my experience, I can believe that they were believed to be real by those who told the stories. One thing to note, however, is that the author includes sentences like "could they be real" and "we may never know." This contradicts the opening remarks where Hannah states that all stories are real and backed by facts. I get that those were said to entice some creepiness but logic, especially to the skeptics, will point out this contradiction and some who reviewed it have. Also, logic states that most "facts" are all opinion based since, in this field, one would have to truly be there to see it to believe it and even then it might be misinterpreted.
Secondly, the stories were not really scary or horrifying. If I stopped to contemplate how it would feel if I was there experiencing what was going on then it would have been scary. I think that whether the reader finds these creepy or scary will depend largely on where their mind is regarding this type of stuff. If this field naturally frightens you then you would feel scared, perhaps. If you have an open mind or are a skeptic, not so much.
While these oversights may devalue the experience, the stories told in a straightforward fashion make it feel more believable and less Hollywood and faked. No matter what though, if you want to hear "true" stories, or more appropriately, stories of those who have encountered paranormal experiences they believe are true with compelling details then you can't go wrong here. This book would be right up your alley! If you're looking for creepy but are a skeptic and/or open minded there is not much fright to be had. I give this collection 3 out of 5 Skulls
